Favorite Romance Review

I read The Gable Faces East by Anita Stansfield every single year. I found this book 10 yrs ago and it is still one of my most favorites of all time. I fell hard for this story and I just never get tired of it.

I'm new to contemporary romance and I just love it! I read Lucky Break by Kelley Vitollo over the summer and I fell hard and fast. I even loved the minor characters and want their stories. I'm so excited for the next installment coming out in January.

The Gable Faces East by Anita Stansfied

When Jess Davies and Alexandra Byrnehouse meet, they unwittingly take on decades of mistrust, deception, and deep betrayals of the heart. Together they are confronted with arson and murder as they discover unbelievable secrets that first bind them to each other, then tear them apart. If they are to survive, they must learn that passions cannot be chosen-and only the most perfect love can heal the deepest scars.

Review:
Oh my goodness, this book was amazing! I'd read the subsequent books about 8 yrs ago, but I hadn't read this prequel yet. It was everything I was hoping for. Australian men in the outback on a horse ranch?! Say no more! I've always been intrigued by Australia and I love a good romance.

This book is so full of drama, mystery, hurt, and an undying love. I was gripped at every page.  I wanted more and the author gave it to me. I love period drama's and this delivered on so many levels. The characters are very well developed. It is like you know them on every level possible. They are so well rounded. I've also fallen in love with Jess. He is a man among men! Swoon!

I always think proper romance novels are too short, this series proves to be THE best I've ever read! You MUST read it!

Lucky Break by Kelley Vitollo

She’ll gamble her heart on the best friend she left behind…

One lucky break is all struggling actress Sidney Williams needs. But when living the LA life becomes too much, she heads back to the small town of Shamrock Falls for the vacation she needs to get her life on track—and immediately runs into Kade Mitchell, her former best friend and the boy next door she’s always regretted leaving behind.

Kade, the new owner of Lucky’s—once the most popular bar in Shamrock Falls—is determined to bring the place back to its former glory, and seeing Sidney again is a distraction he doesn’t need. Sure, the chemistry between them is explosive, but Kade can’t let himself fall into a fling with his best friend—not when he knows she’s soon heading back to the glitter of Tinseltown.

Now, with the possibility of her first major acting role looming, Sidney must decide if her lucky break is in Hollywood or right where she left it—in Shamrock Falls.

Review:
You know I love me a good romance. I like it even better when it is the cleaner variety. Lucky Breakgave me exactly what I wanted.

Sidney "ran away" from her hometown to become an actress. She left behind two best friends. One of which is a now a man. A man who has been in love with her for his whole life. Sidney didn't even say goodbye. I knew I was going to love this story, just by the preface. I love stories where they are friends first. I just think that is the way it should be. It feels so much more real. We get small flashbacks from the past to help us know all the experiences Sidney and Kade have gone through together. They were kept short and to the point, which I love. They added something extra to the story and made me feel closer to them. Like I knew them both just a little bit better.

I totally fell for this story. I fell for the character's and the town. I fell for some of the not so main character's too! It was a quick read but nothing was lacking. I'm now thinking about the other character's and what their stories are. If you are looking for a clean romance to sweep you off your feet, let Lucky Break take you away. I can't wait for what's next!

  1. I stopped by another of these posts and was just complimenting on the post itself. It is a great idea for a meme. I rely on blog reviews to find my romance reads as it is a genre that I am a bit out of the loop on.
The Gable Faces East looks like something that I would enjoy.
