Ink Exchange

Title: Ink Exchange
Author: Melissa Marr
Publisher: Harper Collins
Reading Level: 13+
Other titles in the series: Wicked Lovely, Fragile Eternity
Rating: 3

Summary:

Unbeknownst to mortals, a power struggle is unfolding in a world of shadows and danger. After centuries of stability, the balance among the Faery Courts has altered, and Irial, ruler of the Dark Court, is battling to hold his rebellious and newly vulnerable fey together. If he fails, bloodshed and brutality will follow.

Seventeen-year-old Leslie knows nothing of faeries or their intrigues. When she is attracted to an eerily beautiful tattoo of eyes and wings, all she knows is that she has to have it, convinced it is a tangible symbol of changes she desperately craves for her own life.

The tattoo does bring changes—not the kind Leslie has dreamed of, but sinister, compelling changes that are more than symbolic. Those changes will bind Leslie and Irial together, drawing Leslie deeper and deeper into the faery world, unable to resist its allures, and helpless to withstand its perils. . . .

Review:
I was VERY excited to start this second installment in the Wicked Lovely Series. Nothing happend as I thought it should, which intrigued me.

Ink Exchange is a companion volume to Wicked Lovely, not a sequel. I wasn't sure if I'd like it because I wanted more of the characters I loved from the first book. WELL....I think I love the characters in Ink Exchange BETTER! Melissa Marr has created such a different faerie world than anything else I've read thus far. It's dark, and doesn't end in happily ever after, well not the kind of ending your thinking of....which is interesting to me, I like Happily ever after...but something different is ALWAYS good!

The publisher's age for this book is 13+ but honestly, I wouldn't let me 13 yr old read it. There are teen drugs, sex, alcohol, and rape in this book. That is not a world I ever entered into.

I did enjoy this book very much. It's interesting, dark, has romance of course, and faeries! What's not to like?!
