A special Thank you to Simon and Schuster UK for sending me this book to review.
Unlucky in love Jo is dragged along to see a clairvoyant by her two coupled-up best friends, and is told that there's only one boy for her. The trouble is, the last time she saw him was in a past life, when she worked as a governess to his younger brother. The clairvoyant tells her that as she is back in this life, so is he, and she must find him if she is ever to know true happiness and love. Jo doesn't believe a word of it - but then a series of events begin to change her mind. Could her one true love really be out there? In her quest to find the One, she visits psychics and cemeteries - but will she even be able to recognize her soul-mate when she finds him? Or is she destined to continue looking for love for all of time?
I have always loved the idea of second chances or other opportunities. This is a really great middle grade-ish/Young Adult book. It is fresh, new, and relate-able. The story is told in the first person which makes it easy to understand where Jo is coming from and what's going on with her throughout the book. While I did feel it a bit unrealistic that she had three boys to choose from, it did make for something different than the normal love triangle which was refreshing.
I was pretty sure this was a predictable book and I knew where it was headed but I was wrong. When the ending came I truly had no idea. I love that! There were enough surprises to keep me interested and enjoy the story.
This is my first Cathy Hopkins and I'll be reading more! I think this is a perfect book to read by the pool before the summer is over. If you are looking for something new and fresh then this is it. Enjoy it!
