Why? Gail Carson Levine is probably the most like Shannon Hale that I have found. She does fairytale's as well. I've never read a better Cinderella re-telling than Ella Enchanted. Be still my heart! The Two Princesses of Bamarre rocked my socks off too. Very kick butt heroines. *tear* Love those girls!

The Selection by Kiera Cass

Why? The Selection is like Princess Academy, but with a twist. It is also a YA book instead of the middle grade that Princess Academy is.
