That' a huge stigma! But now, there are so many different ways to go about self-pubbing (and semi self pubbing) that gives the whole self-pub thing a better name. The fact that there are print on demand sites out there (Lulu and CreateSpace are the two biggies I know of) makes indie/self pubbed authors not have to shell out $$$ at the start...and now, with the ebook market! No need for stock at all! Just point 'em to the websites that sell your book.
